Live Music: Shoecraft + Westmoreland

Since its first iteration in 2013, Shoecraft has drawn inspiration from the luminaries of their tradition (influences include The Innocence Mission, Sufjan Stevens and Andy Hull) in order to carve out their own take on singer-songwriter music .
Fronted by songwriter Jacob Baughman, mainstay members include Rachel Casel, Trevor Church, Anthony Baker and Brandon Mackie. Shoecraft has spent the last decade recording and performing around the Pacific Northwest with acts like Damien Jurado, Karl Blau, Zan Fiskum and Valley Maker.

Westmoreland is the solo project of Zach Alva, guitarist for Dallas based band, St. Yuma. The name Westmoreland is a nod to the city and neighborhood that welcomed him in when he made the move from Seattle to Dallas in 2016. The songs are simple and folky, while carrying some heavier writing themes. He pulls influence from some modern songwriters such as Damien Jurado, Gregory Alan Isakov, and Kevin Morby.
