Kids Programming

Sou’wester Arts Kids Programming includes seasonal camps, hands-on workshops, and special connections with our neighbors at Wave of the Future Preschool. Children engage with visiting artists, explore ecology, and experience creativity as a playful part of daily life.

WAVE OF THE FUTURE
Montessori Arts & Ecology preschool

Wave of the Future focuses the whole child; fostering independence, respect and curiosity. We are passionate about connecting children to the outdoors, food, and working artists.

Kids Clay Plays at Ilwaco Artworks

Monthly hands-on workshop where young artists ages 7 and up can squish, shape, and explore the world of clay while learning about the natural environment. These sessions spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and inspire care for the earth through the tactile joy of working with clay.

Connecting Kids with Working Artists

We love connecting kids with working artists. Through our visiting artist program, Sou’wester Artists in Residence share their creative process with young learners at Wave of the Future Preschool. These short, engaging visits invite children to meet artists, glimpse into their studios or practices, create alongside them, and ask questions. By fostering these connections, kids experience art as something alive and accessible, planting seeds of imagination that can grow for years to come.

Seasonal Kids Camps

Our Arts & Ecology Kids Camps invite children of all ages to explore creativity and curiosity in a playful, hands-on environment. Guided by Sou’wester Artists-in-Residence and local educators, campers dive into a mix of art-making, nature-based activities, and collaborative projects that celebrate both imagination and the coastal environment. Each camp is designed to nurture curiosity, self-expression, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

We’re honored to be recognized as Partner of the Year by the Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center for our collaboration in hosting their after-school programming.
