Group Residencies

Come together, create together.

Our group residencies invite organizations to bring artists together for a shared experience at the Sou’wester. Tucked between ocean and forest, our grounds offer both solitude and connection, a fertile place to deepen your practice while working alongside others. Groups may use their residency for collective projects, research, rehearsal, or simply to spark inspiration in one another. Imagine the rhythm of shared meals, the focus of independent work, and the spark of collaboration. What is better than creating on your own? Creating alongside a group of artists in a beautiful setting.

Examples of past group residencies include: organizations, writing cohorts, graphic novel labs, comics and zine collectives, musicians writing and recording, dance and theater ensembles, sound art and field recording teams, film editing and production crews, podcast development groups, printmakers and graphic artists, critique circles, research collectives, and interdisciplinary groups exploring the overlap of art, ecology, and storytelling.

Group residencies are available year-round and generally run from Sunday at 4:00pm to Friday at 11:00am.

Residencies at the Sou’wester are self-directed. Your group is encouraged to use the time in whatever way best supports your work, whether that means diving deep into a joint project, experimenting with new forms, or building community around your shared practice.

Your accommodations will serve as private living and work spaces, with additional access to our grounds, the lodge living room and Velvet Lounge, and wellness amenities including the Garden Spa & Finnish sauna and QT Tea Trailer. For groups needing larger shared space, our heated indoor pavilion may be available.

Every accommodation at the Sou’wester is unique, offering its own charm and character. With a mix of lodge suites, vintage trailers, minimalist trailers, and cabins, each space is just steps from fresh coffee and the beach. All accommodations are cleaned and prepared with fresh bedding, basic cooking utensils, and towels.
