Live Music: Erin Adkisson + Aika Collins

Erin Adkisson began singing in church and howling with wolves at night. Homeschooled until college, studying theatre and music. Now a vocalist in several Portland bands, including The Druthers, since 2008, Erin is a mainstay harmony artist in the music scene.  Genuine and gripping, sensual and powerful. Erin has the extraordinary ability of turning into a completely unique instrument. Crawdaddies is her latest single. The song is a midsummer night’s tale about good timing and liminal space.

Aika Collins is known for writing ‘fun lil bummer’ bops and slinging harmonies around Portland, OR. Crafting heavy heart-break indie-pop songs that are thoughtful and show resilience.  Part Amy Winehouse’s radiant energy, part Brandi Carlile’s community-driven soul; their sound is bright and eclectic.  C’est la vie bébé is Aika’s debut single. The song is about battling with self worth, loneliness and feeling hopeless in a world that we cannot keep up with. The song is inspired by Daniel Johnston’s song “Story of an Artist” off his 2006 album “Welcome to My World.”
