Monday 9/16 and Monday 9/23: 2-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing | 4:30pm-7:30pm at Ilwaco Artworks Community Clay Studio – 109 1st Ave N Ilwaco, WA
For the beginning or intermediate pottery enthusiast! (Folks with previous wheel experience welcome). Class includes the preparation of clay, the techniques of centering and throwing, texturing, trimming and glazing your work. Fee includes clay, glazing and firing.
As part of Ilwaco Art Walk you can drop by our community clay studio and create a ceramic work of art! 1-6p!
No appointment needed. We’ll set you up w/a project & everything you need! Session includes a demo + glaze & firings.
Let your curiosity run free. You can choose to handbuild from a ball of clay or create from a pre-cut slab! Create tiles, trivets, magnets, mugs, bowls and more! Shipping available to visitors of finished work (Shipping + $15 Handling).
10/3-10/24: 4-Week Wheel Throwing Series | All Levels | 5:30pm-7:30pm
Whether you’re new to the wheel or have years of experience, this class is designed to elevate your pottery throwing skills. Each session begins with a brief demonstration, followed by hands-on instruction tailored to naturally advance your abilities toward your personal goals. For advanced students, the projects are open-ended, allowing for creative exploration, while beginners will receive one-on-one guidance to successfully craft chosen objects like cups, bowls, planters, and more. We’ll examine wedging, throwing, trimming, altering, and surface treatment in depth to ensure you develop a well-rounded skill set.

Connect over clay with a loved one! Handbuild ceramic art and lasting memories. Clay Dates include a handbuilding demo, all materials needed and firing. When registering, one ticket ($70) is good for two people. No experience necessary.

Pieces are glazed, fired and ready for pick up in 3-6 weeks. Shipping is available for our visiting attendees for $15 plus shipping costs.

Working in the Ceramic Studio: Wedging to Glazing
10/6. 2pm-3:30pm w/Hans Miles at Ilwaco Artworks $50
this class will prepare you to be self-directed in the ceramics studio, perfect for a studio membership or punch card! You will learn the foundations of studio work including prepping your clay and workspace to the use of basic tools, handbuilding methods, clay body types, and clay reclaiming. We will also cover moisture content, wrapping and storing, glazing, firing cycles and finishing your work.
