You’ll leave with your very own blank book to use as a journal, recipe book, or sketchbook! Beginners to Advanced – All skill levels welcome!
Jillian Barthold is an illustrator, printmaker, bookbinder, and maker from nowhere. Her work acts as a magnifying glass to explore the everyday objects that surround us. She teaches screenprinting and book arts at the IPRC (Independent Publishing Resource Center), loves looking at maps, and wears glitter every single day. She is the co-founder of Fruit Salad Club, an unapologetically silly studio, community, and gallery space in Portland, OR.

The Sons Of Rainier are a recent collaboration of four musicians, Devin Champlin (Gallus Brothers, Crow Quill Night Owls), Dean Johnson (Lowman Palace), Sam Gelband, and Charlie Meyer (both of Honcho Poncho). They formed in a supernatural occurrence at the coziest of dimly lit bars in Seattle and bonded over a shared interest of singing together. The music rests on the foundation of Devin’s songwriting, and is brought forth with warm tube amps, Dean’s unpredictable, weeping guitar lines, a loosely tuned snare, upright bass, and close three part harmonies. It is 45 rpm folk music that is sweet and haunting. It’s a polaroid of a stolen slow dance.
This event is free and open to the public.

Her style is unique and dynamic, poetically blending vinyasa with yoga philosphy, chanting, pranayama, and meditation. Her desire is to inspire all to experience life with compassion, patience and reverence. Within the Portland-based studios where she teaches (North Portland Yoga, SunGate Studio, and Yoga Bhoga), Sweethome has become notorious for her instinctive ability to nurture, guide and challenge her students through an impeccable combination of both a spiritual and physical practice.
Sweethome’s dedication to the equality, peace and well-being of all sentient beings is felt within each of her classes. After 25 years of teaching, her classes incorporate her learnings from key teachers in her life (Colleen Swantner, Sharon Gannon, David Life and Tias Little, Michael Stone and many more), as well as her connection to music/sound and Qigong.
In addition to her studies with Sharon Gannon at the Yasodhara Ashram in Canada, another notable journey for Sweethome was in 2010 when she traveled to India to study vedic chanting at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram. Sound and vibration have a huge influence her classes, workshops and retreats, as well as within her ongoing journey of self inquiry.

WEEKLY EVENT
Mindfulness Talk with Shanna Gillette
Shanna is a certified yoga teacher, ordained metaphysical counselor and empath. Her journey began as a small child inadvertently discovering deep meditation as an escape from abuse. Having always had an interest in the unseen and unexplained, she began having out of body experiences before learning to speak. Eventually she received a regents scholarship to ASU for religious studies. A series of intense life changing experiences including a serious car accident brought her to the first of several “awakenings,” beginning most notably in 2005. She now helps people through the shift in consciousness we are currently experiencing, assisting them along the path toward self-forgiveness and self-love – the greatest journey of all.
Truly exemplifying her favorite quote from Kahlil Gibran, “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain,’ she adds, “The journey to wellness is a constantly evolving process where we learn to nurture body and mind beginning with the heart; To truly understand that the most important step to long-lasting good health and harmony isn’t necessarily about sweating our way to perfect abs or contorting our bodies into painful positions. It starts within. It’s about self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self-love. It’s about learning to accept and respect ourselves wherever we may be. Through the physicality of yoga, we tune into a deeper more expansive space beyond the trivial day to day. We learn that it’s ok to nurture ourselves and to ALLOW our spirits to be happy.”
Shanna received her yoga teacher’s certification at Bryan Kest’s world renowned studio in Santa Monica, CA. She attended Arizona State University for Religious Studies, and is currently studying at the University of Metaphysics Sedona. She is available for private yoga and counseling sessions and can be found at:
