Mindfulness Talk with Shanna Gillette
Shanna is a certified yoga teacher, ordained metaphysical counselor and empath. Her journey began as a small child inadvertently discovering deep meditation as an escape from abuse. Having always had an interest in the unseen and unexplained, she began having out of body experiences before learning to speak. Eventually she received a regents scholarship to ASU for religious studies. A series of intense life changing experiences including a serious car accident brought her to the first of several “awakenings,” beginning most notably in 2005. She now helps people through the shift in consciousness we are currently experiencing, assisting them along the path toward self-forgiveness and self-love – the greatest journey of all.
Truly exemplifying her favorite quote from Kahlil Gibran, “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain,’ she adds, “The journey to wellness is a constantly evolving process where we learn to nurture body and mind beginning with the heart; To truly understand that the most important step to long-lasting good health and harmony isn’t necessarily about sweating our way to perfect abs or contorting our bodies into painful positions. It starts within. It’s about self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self-love. It’s about learning to accept and respect ourselves wherever we may be. Through the physicality of yoga, we tune into a deeper more expansive space beyond the trivial day to day. We learn that it’s ok to nurture ourselves and to ALLOW our spirits to be happy.”
Shanna received her yoga teacher’s certification at Bryan Kest’s world renowned studio in Santa Monica, CA. She attended Arizona State University for Religious Studies, and is currently studying at the University of Metaphysics Sedona. She is available for private yoga and counseling sessions and can be found at:

Ora Cogan combines the intricate guitar picking of Americana with Psychedelic dreamscapes, drawing comparisons to 70’s folk legend Karen Dalton. She has shared the stage with the likes of Grouper & Hope Sandoval while touring extensively in North America, Europe and the UK.
Cogan’s new offering Crickets comes out November 2017. Co-produced with Tom Deis (Uni Ika Ai) in Philadelphia, Crickets inhabits a place between psychedelic folk, dark wave ambient and experimental dream pop. The album features percussionist Dani Markham (TuneYards, Childish Gambino), violinist Russel Kotcher (Chamber Orchestra of NY), and background vocalist Maia Friedman (Uni Ika Ai).
Cogan became a part of Vancouver’s eclectic music scene as a teen. She has collaborated with a multitude of artists including Frazey Ford, Indigenous performance artist Skeena Reece and Austrian Electro-Acoustic artist Daniel Lercher and has performed at Internationally acclaimed festivals such as Treefort, Sled Island, Serralves Festival in Portugal and Torstraßen Festival in Berlin.
“Multi-instrumentalist Ora Cogan makes gorgeous experimental folk compositions laced with hints of psychedelia, chamber pop, and rock.” – She Shreds
“Last month Cogan debuted “The Light,” the first single from her forthcoming release Crickets. It’s notably more up-tempo than her previous work, with heavy synth and multi-layered percussion weaving complex melodies like a spider tending to its web.” – Portland Mercury

This November Adrian Eberstein and Linnea Solveig invite you to untangle from the demands of everyday life to find personal and creative balance during a 5-night Art + Wellness Retreat fusion at the Sou’wester Lodge. Allow the cool ocean air of the Long Beach Peninsula to refresh your being and the warmth of community to fuel your creativity.
This retreat will offer you support through movement, meditation and healthy routines to nurture and inspire in your art practice. Through self-care and self-reflection we will cultivate a more holistic approach for maintaining balance in our lives. Daily meditation and movement practices will rejuvenate your mind and body to facilitate your creative flow.
During this retreat we will be focusing on sensory strengthening to develop a more integrated practice. For movement, we will explore a gentle, alignment centered approach to yoga, as well as exercises to promote strength and mobility that can be easily taken off the mat and into your daily life. For meditation, we will utilize simple techniques focusing on the present moment, judgment-free observations and mantras. Movement and mind practices bring more clarity into our artistic pursuits, nourishing and cultivating our inner awareness, as well as engaging and expanding our senses. To encourage balance and focus, optional prompts will be offered to extend our mindfulness into the studio. Together we will investigate how these practices can support one another and become more fluidly united.
Event takes place Sunday, November 5th through Friday, November 10th
Retreat offerings include:
- Daily meditation led by Adrian
- Daily yoga all-level Hatha class led by Linnea

MORE ABOUT THE HOSTS:
Linnea is a Portland based yoga instructor who teaches a thoughtful, alignment focused practice that emphasizes the internal experience of the practitioner above the goal of an external shape. With a core belief that yoga is a tool for healing and introspection, Linnea also brings a lightness, humor, and warmth into the classroom. As well as teaching at The People’s Yoga, The Bhaktishop Yoga Center and North Portland Yoga, Linnea teaches art to adults with cognitive disabilities at PHAME Academy of Art. She is currently studying asana, anatomy and biodynamic cranial sacral therapy with Todd Jackson and is preparing for an art show in Spring 2018.
Adrian is an artist delighted by the wonder of life and dedicated to the practices and pursuit of wellbeing. She further developed her art practice at the Oregon College of Art and Craft where she completed her BFA in fiber arts in 2011. She has also been finding awe, strength, and joy in the practice and study of yoga for over a decade, and completed a yoga teacher training with Centered Yoga in Thailand in 2012. Adrian has found solace and spaciousness in her meditation practice which has been refined by numerous teachers as well as her time spent at the Tam Wua Buddhist Monastery in Thailand. Adrian founded Isoropia Retreats, an integrated retreat and artist’s residency program, to synthesizes her passions for art and mindfulness and to share the beneficial union of these practices in beautiful natural settings.
