ALL THINGS GLAZE WORKSHOP
9/20, 5:30-7:30p. $50.
10/13, 2pm-5pm. $50
BYOP (Bring your own pottery). In this class you will be working on bisqued pottery to learn about all things glaze related. You will learn about underglaze, mineral washes, kiln processes and glaze chemistry as well as many different application methods.
Clay Play is a casual, beginner-friendly session where you can learn handbuilding skills to create a finished piece! Ages 10+ w/an adult or ages 14+. $35/person. Register for any four Clay Plays for $100. 10a-1p.

Introduction to Hand Brooms workshop with visiting artist, Sarah Benson at The Sou’wester Lodge Pavilion, 2-6p. For ages 16+. $60/person.

Learn to weave your own turkey wing and hawk’s tail hand broom in this introductory, hands-on class. We will discuss the tools, materials, and techniques for crafting beautiful and functional brooms that will have you sweeping out the corners in style. Open to all beginners. Please be aware that broom making is a physical task and moderate hand strength is recommended.
Sarah Benson is the founder and face behind Sun Bunny Studio based in Seattle, Washington. She has a background in fiber arts and began weaving brooms in earnest while homesteading in the San Juan Islands. When not crafting, she works at a local non-profit working on housing and food insecurity. Olivia Awbrey is an Oregon-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose work blends traditional folk with modern indie-rock and fingerpicking blues. She has released two EPs, one full-length album, and is the recipient of arts grants from RACC, the Grammy Foundation, and Oregon Arts Commission. Her debut album, Dishonorable Harvest (Quick Pickle Records), showcased at festivals and venues across the Pacific Northwest and the UK. She lives in Willamina, Oregon.

Monday 9/16 and Monday 9/23: 2-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing | 4:30pm-7:30pm at Ilwaco Artworks Community Clay Studio – 109 1st Ave N Ilwaco, WA
For the beginning or intermediate pottery enthusiast! (Folks with previous wheel experience welcome). Class includes the preparation of clay, the techniques of centering and throwing, texturing, trimming and glazing your work. Fee includes clay, glazing and firing.
As part of Ilwaco Art Walk you can drop by our community clay studio and create a ceramic work of art! 1-6p!
No appointment needed. We’ll set you up w/a project & everything you need! Session includes a demo + glaze & firings.

10/3-10/24: 4-Week Wheel Throwing Series | All Levels | 5:30pm-7:30pm
Whether you’re new to the wheel or have years of experience, this class is designed to elevate your pottery throwing skills. Each session begins with a brief demonstration, followed by hands-on instruction tailored to naturally advance your abilities toward your personal goals. For advanced students, the projects are open-ended, allowing for creative exploration, while beginners will receive one-on-one guidance to successfully craft chosen objects like cups, bowls, planters, and more. We’ll examine wedging, throwing, trimming, altering, and surface treatment in depth to ensure you develop a well-rounded skill set.
