The Sou’wester Historic Lodge and Vintage Travel Trailer Resort is hosting artists and makers at our Annual Handmade Bazaar!

Join us in the Pavilion for live music, fabulous-artisanal gifts and photo ops with our resident Yeti. 

While you are here, play with clay at the Sou’wester Arts craft table! Make a candle holder or special trinket tray and learn all about the awesome programs we have going on including our amazing lineup of artists coming to teach workshops with us this winter!

Drawing is a way of seeing, a way of understanding, and an exercise. In this drawing workshop we will focus on plein air (on-sight) observational drawing using the beautiful and chaotic material: sumi ink. We will cover techniques for recording scale, light, patterns and shapes while practicing our understanding and mastery of the sumi ink medium. Materials fee for this workshop is $20

Johnny Franco: Presented by Sou’wester Arts

Johnny Franco is a Brazilian rock n’ roll marauder who now resides in Portland, and who crafts inventive spaghetti western/folk-rock stompers. Armed with propulsive, spindly guitars, Dylanesque vocals, and adventurous vibes, Franco recently signed to label Blanket Fort.

Eleanor Elektra : Presented by Sou’wester Arts

Eleanor Elektra fuses  elements of folk, jazz and classical music within the songwriter idiom to create unique cinematic songs. Largely a self taught guitarist, her playing is both technical and idiosyncratic, skillfully supporting songs that are rich in both composition and execution. Her latest project, Exquisite Corpse explores topics of declining social and environmental systems and evokes artists such as Joni Mitchell, Aoife O’Donovan and Jesca Hoop.

Eleanor has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. She is based in Boston, MA and is a mainstay of the local music scene, performing at such venues as the House of Blues, the Lilypad, and Club Passim and holding residencies at Bow Market, Grendle’s Den, and Union Street Restaurant & Bar.

!mindparade is a psychedelic/experimental project that formed in Bloomington, Indiana. Originally the solo bedroom project of Alex Arnold, the live show and recordings are fleshed out by a revolving cast of musicians utilizing electronics and orchestration. !mindparade’s beautiful cacophony of bombast is pleasantly bewildering. Wild flourishes of dreamy psychedelic instrumentation zoom past you in all directions like standing in the middle of a busy intersection.

Currently based in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Learn a variety of lino block printmaking techniques to create a series of unique prints designed by you! Design tips and tricks, as well as techniques for safe tool usage will be taught in this hands-on workshop. Projects are customizable to all skill levels. Printmaking encourages planning skills, motor skills, and application of design concepts. Materials fee for this workshop is $10

terrehaunt (of Death Parade): Presented by Sou’wester Arts

Immerse yourself in a sense of place and explore the ecology of the Long Beach Peninsula through an artistic and scientific lense. This unique series of workshops is led by one of our internal staff members and is offered every other week on T, W, and Th from Jan 18th – March 31st. Registration for the other Arts & Ecology staff-led workshops is recommended but not required.

Micah Subar : Presented by Sou’wester Arts

Micah Subar is a Seattle, Washington based guitar player, singer, songwriter, bassist, producer, and collaborator on an eclectic group of musical projects. His imaginative songwriting tells stories of misadventure and the search for creative freedom through the lens of folk music, yet is delivered with a reverence for classic soul. Micah released his debut LP ‘Daydream Ledger’ in January 2019. This album draws the listener in with a toned-down energy and minimalist aesthetic. He followed this up with the EP ‘For Now,’ a luminous, down-to-earth, modern take on the classic singer-songwriter genre. Micah is currently touring the Pacific Northwest and surrounding areas.
