WEEKLY EVENT
Mindfulness Talk with Shanna Gillette
Shanna is a certified yoga teacher, ordained metaphysical counselor and empath. Her journey began as a small child inadvertently discovering deep meditation as an escape from abuse. Having always had an interest in the unseen and unexplained, she began having out of body experiences before learning to speak. Eventually she received a regents scholarship to ASU for religious studies. A series of intense life changing experiences including a serious car accident brought her to the first of several “awakenings,” beginning most notably in 2005. She now helps people through the shift in consciousness we are currently experiencing, assisting them along the path toward self-forgiveness and self-love – the greatest journey of all.
Truly exemplifying her favorite quote from Kahlil Gibran, “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain,’ she adds, “The journey to wellness is a constantly evolving process where we learn to nurture body and mind beginning with the heart; To truly understand that the most important step to long-lasting good health and harmony isn’t necessarily about sweating our way to perfect abs or contorting our bodies into painful positions. It starts within. It’s about self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self-love. It’s about learning to accept and respect ourselves wherever we may be. Through the physicality of yoga, we tune into a deeper more expansive space beyond the trivial day to day. We learn that it’s ok to nurture ourselves and to ALLOW our spirits to be happy.”
Shanna received her yoga teacher’s certification at Bryan Kest’s world renowned studio in Santa Monica, CA. She attended Arizona State University for Religious Studies, and is currently studying at the University of Metaphysics Sedona. She is available for private yoga and counseling sessions and can be found at:

Vradiazei, plays dark, metal influenced folk music on acoustic instruments. “The realization that the darkest days are yet to come inspired us to abandon the use of electricity in our music. We express the anguish of the past, the desperation of the present, and the uncertainty of the future without it. When the world is left in ruin our sound will echo in the empty streets.”
***
Born in an attic “cabin” studio lined with Douglas Fir, The Cabin Project began as a solo act project started by Katie Sawicki, a former-folksinger from Brooklyn who became inspired by electric guitars, keys, synthesizers, and balancing all three onstage. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2008, Sawicki sought out sound rooted in the intimacy of folk, and the arrangements of orchestral rock. While she typically collaborates with her full-time band of percussion, strings, and bass, the solo Cabin Project builds this community of influences and collaborations and cultivates a sound that chimes earnest, reverent, and full of warmth. Her most recent record, released with the Cabin Project, Unfolded, is self-described as, “an album about despair, loss, hope, freedom, heartache, justice and love.”

Busy Hands Quiet Minds: Weaving as Meditation with Samantha LaMont & Natalie Novak
In this class we’ll explore creative meditation through the use of flower essences and the ancient craft of weaving. Weaving is a methodical and slow practice. As our hands get involved with each stitch our minds are free to rest from our conscious stream of thought. It is in this state of quiet that we are best able to hear our creative voice and let it SHINE! The flower essences will unlock any barriers to your true creative self as your fingers dance across the loom.
Instructors Natalie Novak and Samantha LaMont will be your guides as you use these simple, traditional tools to enter a meditative state. Join this class and learn not only how to weave, but also how weaving can be a tool used daily for self care and meditation. Students will leave with the flower essences we use in class plus a complete weaving kit. Kit includes a frame loom, essential weaving tools, illustrated instructions, yarn and a special tote to carry it all home in.
Samantha LaMont is a weaver, painter, and teacher living in Portland, OR. She creates ritual art and cultivates a practice of being through guided meditation and flower exploration. Her work is often spiritual and abstractly explores themes of expanded consciousness and mysticism. Samantha has been studying with her mentor, Shayne Case, an intuitive healer, for over two years. Learning about healing and the art of gem/flower essence through meditation and spirit guided inner exploration. She started her painting and weaving business, Cardinal Point, in 2014 and has been blown away by the encouragement of the north west community. Teaching has always been a passion, showing others how to paint and weave comes naturally, seeing the excitement of students is pure joy. Art is for everyone, and it is an honor for her to share this gift.
Natalie Novak is an artist in Portland, Oregon. She has studied Navajo style weaving and tapestry at the Damascus Fiber Arts School as well as drawing and painting at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Natalie works primarily in tapestry, drawing from ancient and contemporary weaving techniques to explore color relationships, modern mysticism and the (super)natural world. Currently Natalie maintains a dedicated practice at her home studio and teaches this meditative craft to students in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Through weaving Natalie has cultivated so much joy; through teaching she is honored to share that magic with others.
