Wheel Throwing 3-Week Series w/Hans Miles.
9/5 through 9/19, 5:30-7:30p. Ages 10-14 w/an adult or 14+.
This class will begin with the basics of throwing pottery on the wheel and guide learners towards their choice of one of three final projects: cups, bowls, or planters. The first session will cover the fundamental mechanics and process of throwing. The second session will focus on the nuances of form and technique for your specific project, while the third session will be dedicated to refining your work.
ALL THINGS GLAZE WORKSHOP

BYOP (Bring your own pottery) and learn all things glaze!
In this class you will be working on pre-bisqued pottery to learn about all things glaze related. You will learn about underglaze, mineral washes, kiln processes and glaze chemistry as well as many different application methods.
Clay Play is a casual, beginner-friendly session where you can learn handbuilding skills to create a finished piece! Ages 10+ w/an adult or ages 14+. $35/person. Register for any four Clay Plays for $100. 10a-1p.

Introduction to Hand Brooms workshop with visiting artist, Sarah Benson at The Sou’wester Lodge Pavilion, 2-6p. For ges 16+. $60/person.

Learn to weave your own turkey wing and hawk’s tail hand broom in this introductory, hands-on class. We will discuss the tools, materials, and techniques for crafting beautiful and functional brooms that will have you sweeping out the corners in style. Open to all beginners. Please be aware that broom making is a physical task and moderate hand strength is recommended.
Sarah Benson is the founder and face behind Sun Bunny Studio based in Seattle, Washington. She has a background in fiber arts and began weaving brooms in earnest while homesteading in the San Juan Islands. When not crafting, she works at a local non-profit working on housing and food insecurity. Multi Media Embroidered Landscapes Workshop w/visiting artist, Chloe Jacobson
at The Sou’wester Lodge Pavilion, 12-4p. For ages 15+. $55/person.
Learn five embroidery stitches and basic techniques through stitching your favorite landscape. We will experiment with water coloring canvas fabric to create a multidimensional piece while gaining competency in embroidery.
Global Traditions of Ceramics – Intro to Handbuilding 3-week Workshop series w/Hans Miles.
9/9 through 9/23, 5:30-7:30p. Ages 10-14 w/an adult or 14+. $140.
In this class, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the handbuilding techniques of pinching and coiling to create two unique vessels. The first vessel will serve as an introduction to these fundamental skills, while the second will be inspired by a historically significant object, such as a Jomon pot, a Minoan octopus vase, or an Incan Moche vessel. This second project will challenge your skills and allow you to incorporate your personal narrative, deepening your understanding of the rich history of ceramics.
This class is a great way to build up your handbuilding skills while also broadening your creative abilities with a wider understanding of the history of influential ceramic works. We will go in depth on techniques, processes, surface decoration, textures and materials in this open-ended series but also spend time perfecting your fundamentals toolkit of wedging, glazing and forming.
As part of Ilwaco Art Walk you can drop by our community clay studio and create a ceramic work of art! 1-6p!
