Helen Gillet is a musician, composer, cellist, singer (Belgian French & English), improviser and
looping artist. Her prolific career has won her awards of Offbeat Best of the Beat, Gambit Big
Easy Awards, featured artist at the New Orleans Jazz Museum and has been nominated three
times, most recently in 2023, as a rising star in Downbeat Magazine’s Critics Poll. She has
played, recorded with many musicians over the past 20 years, including members of the Sun Ra
Arkestra, AACM (Chicago), ICP (Holland), Members of Morphine, Kidd Jordan, Marianne
Faithful, Cassandra Wilson, Delfeayo and Jason Marsalis, Steve Earle, Iron & Wine (North
America Tour 2018), Zachary Richard, opened up as a solo artist for Les Claypool at the
Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans in 2003 and Jeff Tweedy at Lincoln Center in 2019. She has
performed at a variety of festivals and venues worldwide including the Copenhagen Jazz
Festival, Dark MOFO Festival in Tasmania, Darwin World Music Festival, New Orleans Jazz
Festival, New Direction Cello Society Festival at Berkeley College of Music, Kennedy Center
and at The Big Ears Music Festival in 2024 and many more.
Helen Gillet is a singer-songwriter and surrealist-archeologist exploring synthesized sounds,
texture, and rhythm using an acoustic cello. For someone with her varied background, New
Orleans, with its mix of cultures and musics, seemed like a natural place to call home.

Thanks to a generous grant from ArtsWA, our Family Clay Plays are offered at no tuition cost! We have a sliding scale registration fee of $0-$25 per person, which includes all materials, glazing, and firing for 1-2 pieces.

Hand built Yoni Altars Workshop w/visiting artist, Lynz Brightly

In this workshop we will create wall hanging altars for display and/or ritual. We will honor our bodies and create vulva altars. This class is for all levels and includes all the tools you need, clay, glaze, and firing.

These adorable little creatures come together like magic! In this workshop you will learn how to needle felt and sculpt wool roving into charming gnomes to give as one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts or keep all for yourself. Your gnome can be turned into a magnet, pin or ornament.
Myco Robinson is an inspired felter, fiber artist, educator and the lead instructor for Feral Fine Arts. They have been sharing their love of hand crafts and honoring them as a fine art since childhood. With over I5 years of experience in community arts education and 28 years of working with children. Multigenerational instruction brings them great joy. They run year round youth programming through Wild Child Arts Education. Sell needle felting supplies and kits as Feral Felt. Raised in a one room cabin in the small town of Evergreen, Colorado she began writing songs at a young age featuring guitar and banjo. Her roots are in old timey folk and bluegrass, but later went on to realms of Experimental/Psychedelic/
Sat, 12/7: Coastal Foraging Baskets workshop w/visiting artist, Jacinthe Demmert
at The Sou’wester Lodge Pavilion – 3728 J Place Seaview, WA. 2pm-6pm. $65. All Ages.
Learn to weave cedar bark into a miniature coastal foraging basket. In this course, you will learn to prepare Western red cedar bark and weave a small basket.
Jacinthe Demmert is a textile artist from the Haida Nation. She weaves natural fibers of the Pacific Northwest into vessels that interact with the environment Jacinthe was raised in Hydaburg, Alaska. She is of the Stáas’taas clan and her crests include eagle, beaver, sculpin, and frog. Jacinthe learned the art of Haida basketry from her mother, Vicki LeCornu. She learned the art of Haida form-line and woodcarving from her father, Adrian LeCornu. Jacinthe explores functional forms with environmental interactions. She continues to work on innovative and sustainable textiles in Shoreline, Washington

A BEAT HAPPENING: A Beat Happening is a free, monthly, all ages, all genres, all identity inclusive music producer and DJ showcase based in Portland, Oregon.
LUVJONEZ: Luvjonez is a Puerto Rican instrumental hip hop music producer based in Portland, Oregon. He weaves a nostalgic and downtempo blend of musical influences from his cultural roots, extensive travels, and multimedia visual art practices. His instrumental tracks combine Down South, East Coast, Pacific Northwest elements and ancestral Caribbean vibes, creating a genre-defying mix of lofi, jazzy, downtempo, and boom bap styles.
SUCKERFORLIGHTS: Husband and wife dream pop duo from Portland, OR. Their last full length album, “Hearts Fade”, is a lush and expansive pop record covering themes on the many facets of love.SOU’WESTER PRESS
