LIVE MUSIC BY SAM MENDOZA
JANUARY 4TH 2025 | 7PM | FREE AND OPEN TO ALL
“Portland singer/songwriter Salmon Doza (Sam Mendoza) contains multitudes. His latest release, “My Friend is Here” channels Adrianne Lenker and Hayden Pedigo with its layers of acoustic guitar and tender vocals with lyricism to match. These songs are then interpreted live through a 3 piece guitar ensemble or a solo set.
Lately Sam’s shows have taken a louder approach through the 4-piece power pop ensemble affectionately dubbed The Dozies. With artists like Tony Molina and MJ Lenderman in his head, Sam writes concise and loud pop rock tunes in a lean set that you will almost certainly miss if you decide to get some fresh air between sets. A new release is being crafted and self described as “inner-child rock music” or “10-things-I-hate-about-you-
From the suburban sprawl of San Jose to the green of Eugene, Salmon Doza has had no shortage of environmental inspiration to draw from. Ever since “Maintenance”, to “Blue + Green”, and then making a statement once landing in Portland with “Lifeboat”, Sam has proven time again that the best way to be authentic is to always embrace the changes.”
